Our weight management and fitness program has two essential components: 1.) a medically supervised nutrition plan for weight reduction and 2.) An exercise regimen tailored to meet your unique needs, time constraints and/or physical limitations.
Our program facilitates behavioral change while helping you develop healthy habits that you can maintain long term. Our goal is lasting changes in lifestyle that will leave you healthier, feeling better, and looking better. We will provide all of the education, support, and follow up care you require as you embark on your lifestyle change, including a quick print grocery list and shopping and food preparation instruction and guides.
Unlike non-medically managed weight loss programs, a physician is actively involved in your care at each step of the way.
Whether you need to lose weight for medical reasons, or you simply desire to look and feel better, our program could be just right for you. It is patient specific, interactive, and sustainable and does not require any type of starvation or pre-packaged foods. Some patients may require judicious use of a weight loss medication.
Our program is perfect for patients at risk for coronary heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, stroke, arthritis, sleep apnea, and many types of cancers. By losing a mere 7% of body weight you can reduce your potential for these chronic conditions by 60%! As our patients follow the program they will not only see improvements on the outside, but also improvements in their bloodwork.
This is an individualized program, overseen by your physician in consultation with a certified personal trainer. Our recommendations are based on scientific evidence such as recommendations from the American College of Sports Medicine.
Typical programs might include aerobic, resistance, flexibility and neuromotor exercise training to improve and maintain physical fitness and health. Education and recommendations on reducing sedentary activity and overcoming barriers to exercise (time, access to facilities, pain, etc.) are included.
If you work best with a personal trainer we can help to arrange ongoing sessions with a trainer knowledgeable in our program.
